Can you not get a sat nav included in the car hire ( i presume you are hiring and not shipping your own car ) and just use your mobile for emergency calls ,photos etc.

I am travelling shortly and am with BT. I spoke to them and their honest advice was to buy a SIM locally as this was cheaper. Generally UK providers provide data and do not support either texts or calls in their packages. As I am only going for a few days as a tourist and will not require calls (can do over Wifi if needed) I bought their only package which is 500mb of data a day for £6. This is fine for me but won't help people who stream videos etc.

Or for £10 you could have had 20times more data.

im no fan of three, i had them in the uk and they were utterly useless but ive used one of their sims in asia and the US without fail, apart from a couple of times where there was no reception in yosemite, but my other sims had no reception either.

Im off to NY end March and will be purchasing another 3 sim for the 5 days im out there.

re sat navs in cars they rarely have traffic updates and their re-route options are usually poor you’re far better off using waze/googlemaps
Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right
  • I won the holiday so not sure if the hire car has sat nav included, I just now it's a car from dollor
  • Just know... Sorry
