Looking for advice before I try to get refund on my PC

Hi guys below are the salient points. Bought from Currys/PC world.
  • Bought it on 20/12/21
  • had to take first one back as it would not turn on. Would flicker on for a second but no more. Took it back and exchanged no bother.
  • This one has been fine until a few days ago when it started turning off. Pretty much exactly the same fault. If lead is held at right angle will work but if you breath heavily on the lead it just shorts out.
  • I no longer have the box but have all the components.
  • I would settle for an exchange/credit voucher as still need a pc but don't want the same model again as it had same fault twice.
I am guessing they are going to want to repair it but I do not want that as the same model has broke in the same way twice.

Ps I am not the assertive type and have been brow beaten into accepting  stuff I shouldn't have before.

    Desktop or laptop?

Can you clarify which exact lead you are having to "hold right"?

If desktop, replacement mains leads (IEC cords) are really cheap and interchangeable. Not a kettle lead (10 Amp) , but the 5 Amp version ;) -- if there's a fault in the lead, or connector, not only will it arc and shutdown, but you could kill the power-supply outright with "bad power" input, and it's a hazard.

If it's a laptop, sounds like the lead is being strained and has damaged the DC input jack, if it's the computer end of the lead you have to "hold right".

Under the Consumer RIghts Act the seller only has a single attempt at repair/replace, if a fault occurs again you have a final right to reject it for a full refund within the first six months.

Is it a fault or user damage?

The OP might share a picture with us. That would really help.

if you breath heavily on the lead it just shorts out.

This seems unlikely. If you breath heavily on what lead what actually happens?

How bad is this problem? Bad enough to post but not bad enough to respond to any of the messages from yesterday!

Maybe it's packed up completely, with all the breathing  :)

I don't think the OP meant that to be taken literally...    :)
