Little news about American inflation not going up as much as they thought
don’t expect our interest rates to go much as everyone thinks, people just can’t afford it
petrol to come down soon this will slow inflation petrol £1.65 a litre in Epping Essex
so don’t expect 5% on savings
    this is my guess
I’m starting to believe this , promised recent rate increases have somewhat fallen short and it seems maybe fixing soon is the way to go.
The big institutions seem very reluctant to increase rates but my crystal ball is murky, so would be reluctant to lock myself into anything for long at current rates in these strange, unpredicable times.

Which makes moving more into the widows and orphans funds, bonds, or equities with my fingers crossed, starting to get the edge again.

OakNorth have changed their 1-Yr rate to 2.87% (£1), and Allica have changed theirs to match their HL offering at 2.88% (£10k)

Ford Money (min £500) Monthly or annual interest.
    GateHouse (min £1000)
both now up to 2.95% - 1 year fix.

worth noting that you can make an internal transfer from an existing Ford Money easy access account to fund the Ford Fixed Saver account - but with Gatehouse, you will need to fund from a nominated account and cannot make an internal transfer from an existing Gatehouse account.

At the rate of increase at the moment, fixing for 12 months is a risk IMO.
I fixed 2.0% for 6 months a couple of months ago... easy access is within a gnats of that now...  it'll likely make 3.0 within 12 months?

Does it have a 14 day cooling off?

As my post earlier I don’t think interest rates will go up to much further, people just cannot afford it
I also have a 6 month fix finishes early November plus a real big lump in September to play with

I’m very tempted by the same deal but something is holding me back .3.22% isn’t bad at all though. I’ve also got a decent lump to fix in 4 weeks time so will see if anything higher is around.
  • haha, is there such a thing as banks sh**posting fixed rate savings accounts? No sooner do Ford launch their 2.95% 1 year fix, OakNorth get right in there an hour later with 2.96%.
