Ikano's 1 year fix @ 4.50% is no longer available but it's still appearing on sites like Savings Champion, for some reason.

Ok, re: Charter  year 4.95% - 2 year
I've just come off the phone to them.
Apparently due to a "system error"  the 4.60 showing was an old rate before it went to 4.95.
They are going to correct it for my account and backdate any lost interest.
I checked with them and they said the 4.95%  2 year is still available , but only to existing customers, hence why you can still apply for it when you  log in and go to offered products.
The correct rate isn't currently showing when I last logged but will look later before I do more top ups this week.

(also checked - will have to wait for something in the post to validate my nominated account online)

Did they give any indication the correction would be made across the board, or only to the accounts of people who kick up a stink?

  • Charter showing the wrong rate when logging in to the site is not unusual (and has been discussed previously in the thread) - I wouldn't worry about it (it happened with me months ago)... they usually fix it within a day or two (and backdate the interest to the correct rate).

Well I tried to get as much info to post here but afterwards I thought maybe I should have mentioned that other people were affected - not just me - Janusdesign  has just mentioned it's happened before - I would see if it gets corrected in the next day or so and if not message them. It's a bit disconcerting when you suddenly spot it.
Thankfully they have a freephone number and though they said the wait was up to 30mins,  it was answered within about 10 minutes for me which could have been worse on a Monday morning

I've got a few big pots to spread so along with Charter, yesterday I opened an RCI 2 year 4.85% - monthly interest.
Clearly both Charter and RCI use the same online application processes as  they are identical - eg down to the set your questions and answers etc - but  while I can add funds, I need to wait for postal log in details to see the account.

After all the gradual BoE rate rises, which haven't necessarily stopped , the last few weeks political and economic events - and one to come this week -  , it does fell like a bit of a slightly desperate scramble to get on the best longer term rates as the momentum for further increases seems to have diminished rapidly.
