Has anyone used Ikano and how quickly did you get the email (or welcome letter with user id)?
Applied yesterday afternoon for a 1yr fix ant 4.5% and not had the email. I note that it is now closed.
    Cheers, Stu

All the 4.5% 1yr fixed seem to have gone, all the links on moneysaving expert 1yr savings have either expired, full or only open to existing customers.

You snooze you lose I guess.  In the end I just opened up a 1yr fixed with Investec at 4.37 as I already have an account with them.

just opened a Ford 1yr at 4.45 in case that goes. 21 days to fund with best rate guarantee seems a no brainer at the moment

    Authenticate your Nominated Account
Your Nominated Account must be authenticated before it can be used for withdrawals.
If you've received your Authentication Code in the post, please authenticate your Nominated Account.

Just tried to send a £1 test payment to Charter - suspect it will be rejected but will wait and see.

However looks like  we also have to wait for the post to "authenticate" the nominated account, though we won't  be able to withdraw, apart from monthly interest - seems strange we have to go  through more hoops when we are already invited to deposit from the same nominated account?

When I did a £1 test with Charter, it was rejected, and an email sent informing you of such, which confirms the details are correct, so you can then proceed with the 'proper' deposit (this was last year, so things may have changed? but I'm guessing not...).

I’ve done that today, how long did it take for them to send you the rejection email? I’m waiting for that before I send a chunk.

On the Key Features sheet Charter say "Once the Account is opened, and provided the product has not been closed to new deposits, you have a limited period in which you can make deposits into the Account. This is up to 14 days, beginning on the day you apply for your Fixed Rate Bond, after which you will be unable to make any other deposits into your Account." so it will be interesting to see how this is applied now its been withdrawn except for existing customers.

Does the account become active from the date you apply or after the 14 day deposit window? I'm just wondering - if I signed up today would I get paid on the 11th of each month or the 25th. End of the month feels a bit easier to keep a track of things with a monthly interest payout.

    Thanks

hmm, I guess it depends on the bank.

If the account has no minimum balance I would say the anniversary date is when you applied,  It is usually open on that date and if you don't fund it then they just close the account.

Some with minimum deposits don't count the account as open until they receive the minimum deposit.  In that case your anniversary would be when it has been funded with the required minimum.

Just to be awkward, I have seen the odd bank that pays everyone at the end of the calendar month.  so if you open on the 30th your first interest would be 1-2 days after opening.
  • Is there any issue with putting more money in than initially requested on the opening fix rate application?

It may depend on the bank but, in my experience, that field on a fixed rate application is normally 'for info' purposes and simply there to give the bank an indication of what you might intend to save.
