How many times would you bug an EA for updates?

Hi everyone. Just wondering how often you would think it was acceptable to call an EA for an update?
We made offer back in October which was accepted but since then our sellers have had to pull out 3 times of onward properties for various reasons. They’ve now had an offer accepted on another property but I’m itching to know how long the chain is as we’ve already been waiting for ages.
Thanks!

Sellers EA is slow in getting back and I’ve not heard anything. Would you call on a daily basis for an update or leave it a few days? Don’t want to be a nuisance.
Thanks!

Chain above might well not be complete yet. Going to take a couple of weeks for your vendors to obtain their mortgage. Chill.1

Seller is retired so no mortgage but it’s their seller we have no idea about.Thrugelmir said:Chain above might well not be complete yet. Going to take a couple of weeks for your vendors to obtain their mortgage. Chill.
I’m chilled thanks for the flippant comment 🙄0 -
I think I rang my EA every three days, if I emailed it often took them a week to reply. I was in rented and trying to establish when my vendor's chain was complete, hadn't occurred to me to think of my vendor's vendor's chain. My purchase, cash buyyer, took from mid October to mid March.£216 saved 24 October 20141

Thrugelmir's comment was not flippant. It was sound advice!

It depends on who your solicitor is. Mine will update when there is something to tell me... If there is a lull she will send a chaser email to find what the hold up.
If their solicitor is on radio silence I get the EA to follow on as it's in their interest to keep everything together .1 -
Transactions will proceed in fits and starts. Still at the starting line.........babyblade41 said:

I emailed the estate agents all the time when we got stuck in a long chain. We ended up pulling out in the end but I did used to email and say the people who are buying can you find out if it’s another chain added on or if it a vacant property and it was always a chain added on so we cut our losses and moved on. The estate agent usually got back to me the next day after talking to the estate agent above them etc etc.
no harm in asking. Better to know if the chain is getting ridiculously long and you decide you might actually looking for a no onward chain property. I personally would t wait for the estate agent to confirm when the chain in complete as that could be ages.1 -
Thank you, that is my fear being stuck in a super long chain with no end. Appreciate your advice.charlotteo1988 said:I emailed the estate agents all the time when we got stuck in a long chain. We sold our house in July found some where we like in august and December the chain still wasn’t completed so we started looking for others with no chain put a offer in 17th dec and had it accepted and we are hoping to exchange a week Monday (14th feb.) So much quicker especially with 2 weeks of businesses closed for Christmas. Breaking the chain was the best thing we done. Be open minded and keep looking around you never know what you might find.Twins said:

Have you been waiting since October? I had an offer accepted two weeks ago, and the vendor found a property in a chain last week, chain (of 4 or 5 currently) is not complete and I’m getting really antsy.Twins said:Hi everyone.
