Can I move my fixed rate energy tariff?

I’m moving to a new build property hopefully in early July and in my current property, I currently have a fixed rate energy tariff that’s in place until August 2023. I’ve been advised by the builder of who the initial supplier will be, and this is different to my current supplier. My question is, will I have to give up my old tariff and go on to whatever will be offered at the time with the new supplier? I’d really want to transfer it over if I can as it was a two year fixed tariff that I got at the time. Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
It's unlikely but you should ask your supplier; if you don't ask, you definitely won't be able to.
Does your fixed-rate tariff have exit fees? If so, you might be liable for those too.

Whatever happens you will need to register with the existing supplier at the new build first, so make sure when you do that you remain on the capped variable tariff, do not accept a fix, so that may require a phone call or email/letter as many do not offer anything other than a fixed tariff online.
As suggested above, ask your current supplier before you leave, as they may be willing to allow you to switch back to them on the same tariff. It used to be possible with several suppliers, but their incentive to do it these days is much lower.
