Economy 7 not connected but still recording readings.
I removed old storage heaters and had my flat re-wired, disconnecting old E7 wiring from meter and new efficient heaters installed. Then changes supplier to Eon next. I asked them to install standard smart meter. Told them I no longer had E7 but they said property was registered on database as E7 so they would have to fit E7 smart meter. Engineer came and fitted and said "no wiring to E7 side of meter". I now get bills which show separate day and night time use. Is this correct. I know energy has gone up but my bills are now astronomical to what they were with storage heaters. Eon say all is correct but I am not convinced. I am in my 80's, live in a 1990's 1st floor one bed flat and I am being charged £200 per month for electric (No Gas).

What are the readings shown on both registers now? (Assuming smart meter started at zero)0

The E7 night period will still show a reading, because anything, even your fridge, using electricity at night will show on the off peak rate readingYour bill has shot up, because you swallowed the snake oil and swapped your storage heaters, that used cheap rate electricity to charge them up, for non storage heaters that need to run when your want the heat, i.e not in the off peak period, so the electricity they use will be at a higher rate.It might overall use slightly less electricity, which allows them to get away with their claim of "more efficient" but it will NOT cost you less because most of what you use now will be at the peak rate.0
