Running - And a random act of kindness!

So just before Christmas, I went out for a run!

The stresses of family not talking to me much after the passing of mum in July, was back at the forefront of my mind. Ironically, the stress was back as one of my sisters had a go at me over a text message.

So off I go for a run.

Just before mile 1.7, I saw a lady with a pushchair in my path. As I drew level, she produced and waved a box of Thorntons Chocolates at me, proclaiming "random act of kindness to a stranger, Merry Christmas!!.

My first instinct was to refuse as I was running. But in a nanosecond, I knew I couldn't.

I thanked her and wished her a Happy Christmas, before dropping the chocolates home and continuing my run.

This is the kind of thing you hear of, but never expect it to happen.

That one act made me smile, and forget about my worries. It was one of the few highlights from last year to be honest.

How lovely. So sorry to hear of your troubles. If that had been my sister though (I only have a brother and am a sister myself) I'd have phoned her and asked what's up? She's obviously lost her mum too so probably isn't feeling too good herself. I'd want to know why they're not speaking to me much. And I'd have to tell them how upsetting it is.

Running - or walking - is good to help get rid of stresses but the underlying problems remain. I'd suggest asking your GP if you could be referred to a counsellor. Bereavement is a big thing to try to cope with on your own, especially when you have siblings who have been through the very same experience as you but won't speak to you.

I wish you all the very best going forward and hope things do improve. Also hope you enjoyed the chocs. I had some Thorntons at Christmas and managed to eke them out so I didn't stuff them all down at once.    :)
