scam email british gas

 Hi just wanted to make people aware that I had a scam email at 5.45am today (04/02/22) claiming to be from British Gas.  I just thought that because of the major increases in energy prices etc people could panic and easily get scammed, so wanted to share on here.  I have also reported it.

The address it is from is British-Gas.GOV.UK [Financial.Support-5803-TestandTrace <carollandviv@hotmail.co.uk

We sent you a gas bill for £2.02, and we still haven't received payment. If you've paid it in the last five days, please ignore this email.
To see if your payment has cleared you can    there is then a link to check your account is clear

Please remit payment within 2 business days. If we do not receive payment, we will immediately refer your account to a collection agency.

then another link that says pay us now online.
