Working at the end of a DRO
Options
Hi everyone, to cut to the chase skip to the bit in bold.
It’s been a rough year. In early November 2020 I lost my job to the pandemic. I didn’t have much debt really, about £1200 on my credit card from a £2700 limit but I had some furniture and electronics on finance and kitting out a whole new house.
I didn’t have any savings cos I moved from home to my own place as soon as I could and would buy stuff on finance, pay it off and repeat. I had a pretty decent credit score for my age, almost 600. But my debt + store cards was about £7000
When I lost my job I managed to do the 3 month payment holidays and get signed up for Universal Credit but I quickly spiralled into deep depression over the following weeks and was declared unfit for work.
In February I was advised to look into a DRO and decided it was my best option for now. That went through on March 27th 2021 and is due to expire on March 27th 2022.
Ive spent the last few months on anti depressants and in CBT which was helped massively and I’m beginning to take steps to get back into work.
I’ve applied for a few positions so fingers crossed.
My question is….
If I start a new job in the last few weeks of my DRO, and will get paid after it expires, do I have to report it?

I’m not purposely trying to avoid paying my debts but since I’m right at the end, I can’t deny it would be nice to just let them be written off and free me from them.
And I’m not doing anything wrong 🤷🏻♂️ By the time I get paid my DRO will be over

You can't have >£75 surplus income until you have income, and it sounds unlikely this will come through until after 27 March, which is only 7 weeks away0

I signed up with an agency and started work a week before my DRO discharge date. As I was paid in arrears I didn't need to declare anything as the actual date my wages went into my bank account was after the discharge date.
