HotelBeds Fake booking - help needed

I booked 2 rooms at a hotel through booking.com - I no longer needed them so cancelled online. All good.
To double check, I rang the hotel who tell me they have a booking for 2 different style rooms booked in my name, same dates via HotelBeds. I did not make this booking.
The hotel won’t cancel as it needs to be done by HotelBeds but as I don’t have a booking with them I can’t cancel it!

I am stuck with the hotel refusing to cancel and no booking on HotelBeds to cancel- I am going to be charged the 2 nights stay.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?

It might just be a matter of time before HotelBeds cancel the booking with the hotel. How long before your cannot cancel according to your contract with HotelBeds?

I never booked with hotel beds at all. I have nothing that relating to the room styles or their company at all. I don’t know if the room has been held with my card details or what’s going on. All the hotel tell me is there are 2 rooms booked in my name. I did have 2 rooms, of a different style, booked with booking.com but they have cancelled and confirmed they let the hotel know. Unless they use HotelBeds as a 3rd party?0
