    You can only do it 3 months before the end or you will incur ERCs. Give them a call and they will advise.

    When you switch products with same bank they don’t check anything. It can be done anytime from X months before end of current product. For my bank I can do it 4 months before product expires and reverts to SVR. After product expires one can still switch products. So it’s never too late to switch but you can not do it earlier than the banks prescribed months. 
    So don’t worry just switch products, when your finances improve you can try and remortgage with different lender if financially beneficial. In my case I always just switch with same bank as I decided I will not want to go through the hustle of different lenders for a few percentage points gain in the foreseeable future 
    Initial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £238k, target £122k (quarter way!)

    Mortgage term 23yrs(end of June 2042🙇🏽♀️), 
    Target is to pay it off in 10years(by 2030🥳).
