I bought some cheap thermal tops and tights from Lidl (or was it Aldi?) last year to keep me warm when out cycling. I had a problem with the boiler yesterday and so had no heating. I wore them indoors - and I was so toasty warm that I didn’t need the heating on at all.10

I have found that men's thermals are much warmer, though not as pretty, as women's. Often cheaper too. Nobody sees them under your other stuff. Mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2023.
Trying to live on only £2640 for the year for most meals for seven people. Now only feeding, mostly, two. New total £1860.

Spent in 2023: £1846.53/£1860. Now on £96.08 for 2024. Lost the plot with adding up! Now trying with as little as possible to end of the year.15 -

Hi Rosa, the most recent ones from local, (as local as you can get in the middle of nowhere!) army surplus store, new not second hand. Older ones from Smithfield Sunday market, Manchester. Have also seen them at other markets. mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2023.

Another idea, one my sister employed when at uni, to save more money for beer! When sitting down sit in sleeping bag, at least your bottom half. Even better if you put a hot water bottle in the bottom. Warm with no draughts.

Hi all, just wanted to say that Marks and Spencer Heatgen Plus are the thickest thermals I have found. If you look on Fleabay you can often find new ones for sale, at a reduced price but they are worth the investment and last years. I couldnt live without them.
I am also a big fan of Heat Holders leggings under jeans, it's incredible what a difference they make. Standard wear for me at home is thermal leggings, thin thermal top, thick thermal top, two fleeces or thin fleece and jumper, jeans and thick socks. Yes I feel the cold!.9 -
I was going to suggest the M&S thermals. My sister bought some for DH years ago when we was working outside and he was always warm. Now he's retired he uses them when he plays golf and of course he just keeps them on when he gets home and is always really warm when we go to bed!
