Tesco 'device contract'

We're currently stuck in loggerheads with tesco mobile regarding a sim and device contract. Our credit agreement states 24 month contract for the device only and doesn't mention sim. The device contract cost is £17.99 a month, which we are happy to continue with however, nowhere in the credit agreement does it mention the SIM. Our initial email order confirmation clearly states our sim is on a 1 month rolling usage contract at £12 per month, which we want to cancel due to reception and constant connection issues, but they are claiming we will need to settle the device agreement at around £350 (still have 21 months roughly left on this)
We only want to cancel the sim which is on a 1 month rolling contract as I read it and wish to continue with our device agreement.
Anyone had any similar issues with this they are happy to enlighten me with?
TIA
Steve

From my understanding there has to be an airtime contract attached to the device contract.
That's why , with Sky mobile I opted for the free minimal data airtime contract so I was basically just paying for the phone0 -
You really need to look at the Terms & Conditions that applied to you when you started the agreement. Almost certainly it will say that the airtime contract must be maintained alongside the device contract. No mobile operator (AFAIAA) will "guarantee" their service at a particular location. Might have to just take the hit, cancel, and finance the phone another way.0
