Our fixed energy ends 6th May we have no exit fees. If we change now our bills will be double but will that be cheaper than setting a fixed deal after the new price cap?

"Possibly. "But considering the price cap has now been announced, I wouldn't expect any cheap deals, and any that were below the price cap have almost certainly been removed from the market by now.0

If wholesale prices ease - as they almost certainly will from present levels, even if they aren't going back down to where they were a year ago - there is no reason why fixes below the price cap will not be available again. The situation we have seen in recent months is wholly exceptional, and there is no logic in saying that we will not in due course return to the more usual circumstances where it is possible for suppliers to offer fixed deals below the cap. What no one can say at present is how long it will take for this to happen. The present international situation will be a significant factor.1
