The start button on my oven overheat extractor fan is playing up. It works, but you need to hold it down for it to stay on.
just wondering if this is something I’m likely to be able to fix myself rather than pay a small fortune for an electrician/ handy man to come out,
Any thoughts would be much appreciated

probably a buildup of dirt messing up the latching mechanism inside the switch. A squirt of switch/contact cleaner should fix it - Do not use WD-40 or similar products. They leave a film of oil behind which could catch fire.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I have a can of Servisol - Has lasted me <mumble><mumble> years, and not had a problem with it.

If you're like me and replace your interdental brushes weekly the old ones (rinsed clean of course!) come in very handy for awkward places such as these.
