Whose name on the mortgage?

My BIL worked for a bank who provided the mortgage for their house. The mortgage could only be in his name.

Thats interesting. Presumably he alone paid the mortgage?

I have no idea how they worked their joint finances. That was not for me to know.

the reason it could only be in his name was because only he was the bank  employee and the mortgage  was at a special rate for employees.

That's an odd question.

I too knew someone who worked for a bank and had a very good rate mortgage - when we were all paying very high interest rates.
They, as a couple, were just grateful that they had a great deal and treated payment of it like we all did - as a couple, regardless of whose name the mortgage was in.
