Morning everyone
Very lazy day yesterday - the all seem to be just now - but I'm being good and following doctors orders! I am going to ring my boss this morning and tell her I'll be off next week too.
DD called in with little one for a short while - 'Are you still poorly granny?' And out came the doctor's bag!
Nelski - I have 'The Teacher' recorded - might watch some of it later
Camelot - good you can escape!
Csarina - hope you both stay well
Gers - enjoy your trip to Glasgow
Sunflower - hope you're ok
TA - good luck with doctor
Sorry if I've missed anyone - my memory is even worse than before I had Covid!
Hope everyone has a good day

Sunfl0w3r said:Good morning,
Sorry I've been mia, we had a tragedy in the family before Christmas and it's taking time to come to terms with.
Going to meet a friend for coffee this morning, then go for a walk as I need to lose all the weight I've put on.
Have a good a day as you can 🌻

Morning all, sunny but breezy here in Kent. No doubt I will be watching the tv this morning to see what the government are going to come up with for the help for heating for those who are struggling at 11.00. I'm ok for a good while yet as I had just got a fixed rate last August just before the prices started to rise and its fixed for 2 years. But many of my friends are finding it hard and are worried sick about the oncoming rise in the price cap.
Not a great deal to do today I whizzed around like a thing possessed yesterday so up to date with housework, may just put on a wash as the basket looks full enough to warrent one. I also have the hair dresser coming at 12 to give my barnet a trim. then I think this afternoon I will make a large pot of leek and tattie soup as I have three decent sized leeks to use up in the veg basket. Apart from that its about all I shall be doing today ,maybe finish off my Library book I'm reading 'Shuggie Bain' at the moment, not bad but a bit depressing at times. But once finished I have a good murder mystery book to get into.
Hugs for those who are in need and happy brithday to those celebrating today
Take care everyone and have a good day

Morning all. Friend took me to an out of the way cafe, she thinks it's a chain but it was lovely, light and airy, loads of room and lots of brownies. I bought two to bring home. We also went to an Italian deli with a bread and pizza shop next door, to Tesco for some tomatoes, but the fire alarm went off so I left them there and came home without. Did a lot of walking, when I came home I conked out on the sofa. OH went off last night to a firends for a movie night so I had my fajita soup and cheese on toast, the chicken stew and mash is still there for tonight. Dosed up the cats with new flea stuff, haven't seen them pulling at their hair yet this morning. Wood delivery today so slow and steady stacking on the cards. Spoke to mechanic last night, he said all the fuse arrays were corroded and had to be replaced but that he wouldn't charge me any labour, just parts. I told him not to be so silly. If they hadn't found the one thing, then the other, it would have been doomed to fail somewhere, most probably on the motorway so although I am very peed off it's taken so long, I am also pleased he noticed the problems.Sunflower, sorry to hear that, hugs...Bella, looks like it's knocked you for six, so take your time..Ruby, they're really handsome dogs, much prettier than our stupidly bred bulldogs. Gers, hope the hotel stay makes up for the missed sleep and dentists..TA, good luck at the docs, hope they don't find anything to worry about. Coxy, errr, I would have thought that that was blummin obvious really...Prosecco isn't supposed to be drunk warm...Camelot, how about splitting the wool like you do with embroidery thread? Csarina, hope they are negative...Izzy, you make my head spin with your industry...Have a good day if you can folks, always indulge a little, time stops for no one...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Afternoon folks - back from the doctors unscathed. All bloods fine so I live to fight another day! Just my painful legs to contend with but nothing can be done about those - just grin and bear it! Really it seemed a waste of an appointment as all these questions could have been asked and answered over the phone, But I had been asked to make an appointment so I did!
We seem to have lots of sorrow and problems on here just now. SUNFLOWER I'm sorry life has been tough for you recently. BELLA I hope your test is negative and you soon feel better. TAFF fingers crossed the new flea treatment helps the puss cats. Good news for CAMELOT though - escape day! And RUBY too it seems good news re DD's doggy.
Have a good rest of the day folks and GERS enjoy your trip to Glasgow (apart from the dentist bit!) xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Afternoon all, late again but here's today's waffle anyway. Weather has been dull all day, just a brief glimpse of the sun about an hour ago but not particularly cold.
The prawn & lemongrass fishcakes last night were not good - strange texture, too much garlic, tough and chewy prawns (well, bits of prawns). They were a sub so I thought I'd give them a go rather than send them back but I won't make that mistake again. We did eat them because we don't like wasting food but it was a good job there was some side salad on the plate!Tonight we're having a beef stir fry that I'm sure will be much more enjoyable.
I've made some progress with the fabric stash this morning and have two bags of what I know I won't use ready for the CS. I've rung to make sure they want it (they do) so I'll take it one day next week. Weather dependent, as it's a bit of trek in a direction I don't normally go in and it's an uphill walk too.
Quick trip to the Co-op this afternoon for a few bits I can't/don't get from Sains and noticed yet more price increases. Grrr. On the plus side, I finally got some ginger biscuits so normal service is resumed for the mid-morning cuppa.
nmlc: Your office sounds like where I worked, I'm just pleased I've retired.
Gers: Hope you don't get snow.
RR: Glad the new vet is making a difference.
TA: Good news the doc didn't find anything untoward.
SunflOw3r: Condolences, take time to "heal".
Jackie: We renewed our price fix last August too, but it's only for one year so I'm expecting our DD to double this year. More belt tightening on the way then.
Virtual hugs to anyone who needs or wants one.Be kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
YorksLass when I renewed it, it was pure chance that I did it for two years, as I normally only do a year at a time. I couldn't believe it when about a month later the prices started to rocket upwards
As you say belt tightening will become the new 'norm' for millions

Our supplier went bust in February 2021. I was paying £39 a month and getting a rebate of around £100 a year .EDF took over and I fixed for 2 years at £89. We are not due a bill till April, so will see how it pans out. Our fix finishes in August 2023.If it goes up by 54% we will be paying £166 a month. I will have to radically alter our budget to take that into account. I am so thankful we both have civil service and also two small employer pensions, as well as our old age pension, otherwise we would be struggling. I still need to put £1500 into our emergency account to bring it up to the maximum we can have in savings. I will have to try and do it in 12 months, so it is in place before our fix runs out.5
