American Express Nectar card - has there always been an annual fee?

Hi, just a quick question to anybody that has this card, has there always been an annual fee? I've had the card since around 2013 but I've never noticed an annual fee being taken. I've only become aware of the fee when browsing cards.
Does the the fee doesn't appear on statements? As I've never noticed it on statements. Or was the annual fee introduced at a later date?

Looks like it was there in 2017, although waived for the first year (then and now):

Thanks. I'll give it a few days to see if there's anybody on here that's had the card for a similar amount of time as me. If no responses I'll speak to live chat to see if they've been charging me or if I'm exempt. Just reluctant to do that right now just in case I tip them off that I've not been paying a fee when maybe I should have been doing.eskbanker said:Looks like it was there in 2017, although waived for the first year (then and now):

Been there as long as I've held an Amex (since 2015). Back then it was a dealbreaker for me.The card has become increasingly attractive with time as the Amex Plat. Cashback and the rest of the cashback/reward market adjusted to the interchange fee. It's value has been indirectly affected by Sainsbury's removing the double up though. You should be able to request up to 6 years worth of statements through your Amex online account.0

It seems that today's credit cards will provide free annual fees for 1 year but after that there will be annual fees. I myself have an independent credit card from Indonesia where the annual fee is there after more than 1 year of use.-1

I can recall when the fee was introduced. You could pick if you wanted to keep the existing card which earn 1 point per £ or pay the fee for double the points.
I still have the free card.0
