Sink plug jammed, how to go about fixing it?

Pushed the plug down to check it works and now it’s stuck. Tried to use a suction cup no joy, seems like it’s proper stuck.

What normally brings it back up? Is there a lever further up the sink?
You could unscrew the pipes underneath and push a screwdriver or similar up to dislodge it.0 -

Some push pop ones can get stuck if not screwed on correctly. (or become loose).First is try to tighten so it works. Push (down hard and) clockwise for this. Should start popping again after a while.Failing that push (down hard and) anti clockwise in the hope it pops off and you can push the centreal strut back up.I tend to prefer the over the whole mech push pops as this does not occur.Should it break screwfix do some nice cheap ones and they are easy to fix (and if lot's of silicone sealant is under it it was bodged in by and idiot and may be the reason this is occuring, none is needed).0

How about covering it with ice in the hope it reduces fractionally. The surrounding waste won't get chilled so much.Desperate times, desperate measures.Or, phone a plumber and ask. They must have come across this before and are too busy on the big jobs at the mo to worry about advice for free if they are nice ones
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I stuck a thin blade down the side of mine to lever it up then promptly got rid of it for a 'normal' plug. On mine the brass mechanism had corroded and caused it to seize. Not too hard to swap the waste. I usually also buy a 'basin mate' to use instead of the supplied seal to make sure it never leaks.0

A very similar thing happened to me. I managed to push and twist anti clockwise a few times . The copper part at the bottom got lost though, so I purchased a couple of replacement plugs from fleabay ..0

That happened with ours, we tried all sorts of ways to get it out. Blades, magnets.
Eventually unscrewed the trap and pushed it up with a kebab skewer. Good luck 😊

Get a rubber glove and push down hard and turn to the left( anti clockwise) keep doing this till it pops up and you can unscrew it and see if needs replacing . Worked for me.0

Don't bother unsticking it, it will probably need replacing anyway. If you've got the trap off you're half way to replacing the waste assembly which is cheap and fairly easy to do.
I resisted the temptation to use silicone everywhere and was pleasantly surprised to find that it went in easily with no leaks.0
