Credit card payment (in full) not clearing

Hi, I pay my credit card off in full monthly and due to “technical difficulty” with AMEX my payment has not been recieved/cleared (it has left my bank) but it will now leave a negative on my credit file.

Is there any form of customer security against such issues ? Liability claim by credit card issuers?

This comes at a critical time for my partner and I building up credit scores to hopefully get a mortgage, having a negative on my file/report wont help with lenders.

thank you
Brad

If the "technical difficulty" is with Amex then they should accept responsibility for its consequences and not mark your payment as late, especially if it was a direct debit, which is generally the best way to avoid being on the hook for such issues....

Your credit score is a meaningless number, ignore it. Also, whilst having missed payments is not ideal, one at least several months to a year before applying for a mortgage is not going to be the end of the world. That being said you don't want missed payments on your credit report, but if you are not a fault then there should not be one. If Amex are at fault in processing the receipt of the payment then they should remove it, if your bank are at fault then they have a process to notify Amex who will then remove it.

Edit to add, Totally agree with esbanker, always have a Direct Debit set up for at least the minimum payment, it covers you.

In addition to the above, it is worth contacting Amex, if you explain the situation, they may remove the marker as a goodwill gesture
