Is there a reason why you want to change the name on the deeds? You don't need to register anything now, you can just use the deed poll as evidence of your change of name whenever you sell/remortgage.0

Hello there,
Thank you... no reason atm ... I will be selling later in the year so want to make sure everything would be in order so therefore no issues. I wondered if it would be a legal requirement...

No need to do anything, but keeping hold of a copy of the deed poll will make things easier for your conveyancer when you sell. You can legally have as many names as you want without having to register any changes.(In fact, I've just decided to change mine - can everybody now please call me Roberta Thruppleworth Slithery the 17th...)2

As others have said, no need and no legal requirement. But if you want:

I extended the lease on my flat about 15 years after I changed my name - the solicitor just handled it all at the same time no problems. (Statutory Declaration not Deed Poll).0

My partner and I have just changed our surnames but not yet changed it on the deeds. We handed the civil partnership certificate to the solicitor and they are sorting it all for us as the sale goes through. Simples!!

Similar happened to me, bought a house in previous name, got married and then sold, just gave the solicitor a copy of my marriage certificate as evidence of name change and no problems at all. In your case substitute Deed Poll for marriage certificate.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0
