World cruise travel insurance

We are considering a once in a lifetime world cruise. I have a packaged bank account including travel insurance which will provide extra cover for the trip duration (140 days), our medical conditions and ages. They will also offer a top up for the valuation of the trip in case of cancellation, all of this at a reasonable cost. however the cost of the trip is £40,000 per person, and I can only get cover up to £20,000 per person. Can anyone tell me if its possible to get a top up policy to cover the shortfall of the cancellation should the worst happen? Thankyou.

We're in a similar quandary. Did you come up with a solution?0

Does the cruise operator offer insurance?

"Top Up" is unlikely to be possible but you will find policies that will cover from the ground up. The cruise operator may be able to offer something else you are looking at a high net worth policy.0

If all else fails you may need to take out a second policy to cover the rest of the value of the holiday. The downside is that you would probably be hit with 2 excess charges in the event of making a claim.

You would need to be very careful with this approach and read the terms... normally limits are not additive so if you have two policies covering holidays up to £20,000 each and you need to claim you wouldnt be able to claim £20k from each but £10k from each as you've dual insured the first £20k and not insured the second £20k at all.TELLIT01 said:If all else fails you may need to take out a second policy to cover the rest of the value of the holiday.
