Credit allowance

My husband and I have got £5k on a credit card which is about to start gaining interest so we're looking to transfer it but can't seem to find anyone willing to offer more than a £4k credit limit. With a combined income of just over £50k and no other debts or childcare costs I was surprised by the figures that are coming out of our searches. Should I be, or is this the state of the market at the moment? Or am I missing something in the application/eligibility check process? We should be in a position to pay off the full amount within 6-8 months now that I'm back in work.

If you're carrying debt, you'll be seen as a higher risk and affordability comes into play.

You also have the issue of any hard searches being done to get to see the limit they're prepared to offer will increasingly make you look desperate.

Accept any BT offers you have and transfer what you can. Don't turn down the chance to save some interest, just because you can't save it all.

Where are you searching? Direct with card provider or via one of the credit ref co's who offer products as they get a kick back?
Take the 4K transfer what you can & focus on the card with the interest bearing balance. 👍
