Pockex Tax - PPI Tax Reclaim Not Payed

Options
I used a company called Pockex Tax to reclaim the tax on a PPI payout.

HMRC confirmed that payment was made to Pockex on 6th January. After taking their commission, I am due £535.42 but have still not received payment from Pockex.

I keep getting fobbed off with excuses. Cheque was sent out on the 11th, no managers available to speak to. - always in meetings. Apparently my claim has been escalated to the finance department. No one has responded to my emails and phone operators have no additional information.

What are my options? I feel like they aren’t going to pay. No information is forthcoming from the company and I obviously can’t afford to loses over £500. Thé blood vessels in my eye have burst due to the increased blood pressure the stress of the situation is causing.

any advice would be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Lee

They'll almost certainly pay, but claims companies are marginally staffed by a handful of minimum wage staff.

It's only been less a month - give it a while. If it doesn't turn up, send a formal complaint.

Make sure you make any future rebate claims directly. That you way you get more money, more quickly.

And get to your GP about your eyes.

    This ^^^

They really aren't doing anything you couldn't do yourself and you would have had a larger amount sat in your account by now.

  • The company actually just called me and spoke to a lovely person who explained the situation: what had happened, what was happening and what will happen. That’s all it needed really- up to date information and I’m grateful for them ringing to explain

Thats money for old rope. Although using a company to complain about PPI was too.

Keep on top of it as claims companies are notorious for being slow and some have gone under and taken any money with them.

  • Warning to those that used Gladstone Brooks to get a PPI payment and have now been contacted by Pocket Tax to claim a tax refund on the payment.
I made the mistake of contacting pocket tax to enquire about a message I had received concerning a possible tax rebate. Following my initial contact with them I chose not to proceed as the charges that were being proposed were in excess of 40% of the total i could claim. I felt if I was going to claim the tax back I would do it myself and save that commission charge. However the next contact from Pocket tax came after HMRC had contacted me to tell me they had paid my rebate to "my agent". When I contacted pocket tax for clarification they said I had given them permission to claim the rebate and proceeded to send my an electronic form with my electronically generated signature on it. As I had never sent them a signature I have come to the conclusion they must have taken it from Gladstone Brooks. The director at Gladstone Brooks is the same director that pocket tax has. So when they asked for bank details to send me the money they are holding I asked for them to send a cheque. They say they have no access to a cheque book and it must be a direct bank transfer. Because of the underhand way they seem to have claimed the money "on my behalf" I am reluctant to give them my bank details. So still no payment three months on. They claim to bank with HSBC and have given me the bank details of 40-19-15 54645936 as their account number. So if they are a reputable company and bank with HSBC what have they done to the bank for them to withhold the company access to a cheque book? I doubt they have no cheque book and it raises more questions about this company. Be warned there is something suspicious about this company. Apparently it is easy to claim back the tax from HMRC and there is no need to use pocket tax and I would recommend that if you are in this position. Hope this helps someone.
