MoneySaving dating apps

I'd love to hear about your experience with dating apps, particularly ones that are free or at least have a free/lite version.
MSE Becky mentions a few in her blog Dating at a distance, published last year, as well as some MoneySaving date ideas. I know there are many, many more dating apps out there though.
Which are your favourites? Which would you tell friends to avoid?

Avoided Tinder like the plague - probably would catch it from there! People mostly looking for hook ups1 -
Met my beloved on OKCupid. I'd signed up for a month at £8.99 and cancelled immediately. Regret nothing.
