Misinformation at time of viewing property

I’m a disabled lady who needs a parking space. We found a house to rent and was told at time of viewing that the property had a parking space and this was shown to my daughter at point of viewing. We signed a 3 years contract as we didn’t want to keep moving with my health conditions. After moving into property we have had no end of bother and stress from neighbours telling us to move and that the space we are using doesn’t belong to the property.
we have now found somewhere with a drive which is more suitable and wish to leave but the landlord wants extra 6 months rent to leave tenancy early as we are In Breach of contract!
our argument is we wouldn’t have wanted to move if the property had proper parking which we were informed it had.
is there anything we can do to end this tenancy early and what are our rights.

What kind of space is this and who does the space belong to? What does your contract say about the parking space?

What does your tenancy agreement have to say about the parking space?

This! If the tenancy agreement includes a parking space that doesn’t exist, the LL is in breach of the contract.Slithery said:What does your tenancy agreement have to say about the parking space? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
If the landlord lets you move out and finds new tenants immediately they cannot claim for 6 months of rent. Under the Tenant Fees Act they can only charge for losses incurred - reletting fees and lost rent. They can't just penalise you to the tune of 6 months worth of rent.xvwx said:I’m a disabled lady who needs a parking space. Or course they can simply refused to end it and you're liable until the three years is up (assuming no break clause) or allow to you end it but don't bother looking for tenants for several months.0 -
The key is does the property actually have the parking space?xvwx said:I’m a disabled lady who needs a parking space. is there anything we can do to end this tenancy early and what are our rights.- If yes, then complaining neighbours are just that. Nothing to do with the LL, and you have to either ignore or deal with them via council / police depending on what they do.
- If no, then you go to the LL and demand what you were promised or try to come to a settlement - that could include money off to park nearby, or an early termination so you can move, or whatever.
