Not a Suzuki, but ... I ordered my new Volvo V60 PHEV mid-October last year; the expected date at the dealer was 15-Mar ... the last info I had was this was now 10-Apr, so 6 months lead time. (Not had any further update yet).
That is not especially  or unusually COVID slow, though, for a factory order car.

My Mum's Honda Jazz was ordered in the first week of October 2015 and she took delivery 6th March 2016.  In fairness, the Honda dealer had phoned and said she could have the car around the 20th February but, for the sake of a fortnight, she waited for the new number plate.  That was still 5 months, even in totally normal times.

I wasn't saying whether this was good or bad - just giving some real-life experience. :)

FWIW the dealer emailed me today to say 10-Apr (to them) is still on.

My 7 year Mondeo got written off just before Christmas - paid £24k new, got £10.5k pay out for it - which I was amazed at. Looked at getting a 6 month to 1 year old car - they were coming in at about £26-£28k - but could buy new for £30k - so have eventually go down the new route - have to wait till March / April 22 - a bit of a pain - but as I am working at home most of the time, I can cope with that.

So, max 4 months, including whatever time you took to choose the car.  I don't think factory order cars have ever really been less than 12 -16 weeks, unless you happened to specify a configuration that is already in the build queue.
  • Another thing to note with the chip shortage is that car manufacturers are deleting what would normally be standard spec. Audi have quietly deleted their lane assist from the Q3 s line spec. Used to be part of the s line spec but no longer available.

My son ordered a VW Transporter back in Oct/Nov?  It was delivered last month.  Total cost?  - approximately £5K less than a second hand one.  It's all mad!

My daughter bought her 63 plate Ford Fiesta for £4950 (private sale) almost exactly 3 years ago.

    WBAC currently offering £5680.

Even taking into consideration that they would knock the price down a bit that's still a bonkers price !!!

There's a lot of value in having something *now* and not in 6 months, especially when it comes to vans. It's still totally bonkers though.
  • 8-10 years ago you could buy 7-8 year old cars for around £2K. Now if you're looking for anything around £2K you'd be lucky to get anything less than 12-14 years old.

    I bought a 2 year old Ford Capri 3.0 S in 1980.

Could someone please confirm what the list price was for this car ?

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.
