Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, not so blustery as it has been.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO pork, LO yorkshires, LO roast potatoes, added some fresh tendersteam broc , green beans, and peas (DH) and gravy, DS1 had fish and rice. Tonight we'll be having Italian season chicken with dumplings - lovely it is - only work half day on a Wednesday so have time in the afternoon to prep this kind of meal.
Yesterday work was ok, hoping today will be much the same - I work at the other office on Wednesdays, then last day tomorrow before days off until back on Monday.
Keep safe and well x

It was windy here again yesterday, lots of small branches off trees in the park. I did enjoy my dog walks in the wind but am thinking of those affected by the storms.
Work was quiet in the morning then much busier in the afternoon.
Dry here but feels very cold its too dark to see if there is a frost yet. Off to work for me today and we are making cauli cheese pie which has a crumble topping its a really fiddly recipe so I am going to try and make it easier, I am only getting about 1.5 hours to actually work with the clients each day which is such a shame and we just dont have anytime to do anything but the most simple recipies.
Mum is cooking for us tonight I think she is doing lamb chops with mash and veg which will be nice and will save me cooking.
Big pup got on really well at the new vet they were shocked at the state of her skin and the lack of action by the old vet, they have taken skin scrapes and got her on some antibiotics and given her a jab and they are hoping to get her off of the heavy drugs that she has been on, im really hoping that this works as she is such a lovely girl, a gentle giant.
DW to empty this morning and I will put a wash on.
Have good days all xx
well our Val is fighting on bless her. She had her 75th birthday yesterday and her daughter was able to go into to see her. No other visitors just yet .But all the Doctors and nurses surrounded her bed and sang Happy Birthday to her.her daughter says they are taking great care of her and going above and beyond because she is such a lovely person and everyone is rootinf ofr her.he daughter took in a big cake and it seemingly cheered everyone up on the ward. I spoke to her on Monday but her speech is a bit difficult as her breathing wasn't great ,but I am hoping it will improve over the next few days. She is on oxygen, and morphine to help with her pain. I have everything crossed for her.
So a new month starts, and I finished up January with about £11 surplus cash from my food budget by using up what I already had in stock.I shall carry on into February as its been quite an experience finding different recipes to use bit and pieces up in
I have three outings over this weekend coming as Its my birthday next week, so on Saturday night I am at my eldest DDs for dinner, Sunday I am off to see my eldest granddaughter and great grandchildren for the day, and Monday night I am at my youngest DDs for dinner with her and two of my grandsons and her OH. The other two boys are away, as one is in north London where he lives, he is a teacher and can't get away down to darkest Kent. Our Henry is at Uni up in Essex but I know they will be facetiming me along with my eldest grandson in New York.So its going to be a busy weekend.
I went to coffee morning at Dobbies yesterday and we all had a good natter and put the world to rights as usual. being of a certain age we were all talking about how life has changed since we were small and how attitudes have altered. The increase in untidy streets and litter was one . Who remembers the Keep Britain Tidy campaign .
There is a park near to me that is kept tidy by local volunteers. So much rubbish is collected virtually every day ..I said I think its because back in the late 1940s/50s people burnt rubbish on their open fires and paper litter was used as firelighters.Mind you I wouldn't want to go back to an open fire, far too messy and the smoke was awful in London causing dreadful fogs. So there is an upside to everything.
Right time I got a wriggle on as the kettle is calling, hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm, well and safe
Cheers chums
JackieO xx
Good morning, thanks for the start nmlc. That chicken dish sounds lovely!
Pup has woken up this morning and is limping. Can’t put one of his back legs down for long. He is currently snoozing on the heated bathroom floor but had a bit of a struggle getting upstairs to it. I will book a vet appointment if it’s still the same later. I have booked to see Groundhog Day at the cinema tonight – never seen it and today is the day apparently!
Boss is frustrated that she has too much to do and it’s all a bit chaotic. Don’t think I’m helping much as she’s right, it’s chaotic and I’m losing the will. We have been asked to go into the office at least 4 days a month starting 28 Feb but there are not enough desks even for that. Just plain ludicrous.
Dinner last night was chilli con carne with JPs, and there’s a portion left for lunch. Tonight will be carbonara – nice and quick. I cleared the clothes ironing pile last night so depending what happens with the vet, I’ll do the KS bedding tonight before the cinema if I get a chance.
I need to cancel BG home cover today – got it free for the first year now they want £148. It will automatically be taken by DD on 23 Feb unless I cancel. I also need to contact the property management agents for our rental property. Have left 2 messages about paying the service charge but no-one has called me back. Finally managed to book the car for service and MOT yesterday after leaving 2 messages I finally got through to someone. Is it just me? Some folks want your money and others you have to beg to take it?! Bonkers.
Hope all the poorlies are doing okay and hugs to all those struggling.
Coxy
RUBY I hope doggy responds to new treatment. My Sparkly Cats skin problem is an allergy to something but vet said skin tests are upwards of £900 and even so could prove inconclusive and we'd be no nearer knowing what she was allergic to so didn't recommend! We are having a good run at the moment, it's now 7 weeks since her last injection and no sign of it yet but I don't doubt it will be back at some point. I tried herbal and homeopathic stuff at one point but to no avail - I couldn't even get them down her!!! Not an easy job for one person trying to get tablets in a cat!!
Lovely meet up and lunch with my oldest friend yesterday as usual. It was a bit busier than it has been, looks like people are emerging from hibernation. I would say it was half an half with mask wearers out and about.
It's tripping off day today - bus ride then wine 'n dine lunch. Just 2 of us today, our 3rd friend has other plans. We will no doubt end up in Ilkley or Skipton as usual but saying that our choices of different places are limited. It will be enjoyed wherever we end up just tottering along and browsing then dining!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones or plain fed up.Take care and be safe xx
We were up early again, sleep has been very fitful with the colds we have. Steve has had to cancel his eye op because he isn't over his cold. It's been rescheduled to a week on Friday so not too long to wait.
I have got a batch of dough for cinnamon buns proving in the airing cupboard, it seems to take forever because it is an enriched dough - the recipe says 40 minutes but the last batch took at least twice that. I made a cottage pie yesterday and will make some shortbread (star biscuits Esben calls them) biscuits, all to take down to Laura's today. Brian is away with work and Laura is at college early tomorrow so they need someone to take Esben to nursery.
I need to finish getting the house in order ready for sis-in-law arriving on Friday, not too much to do now though. Steve put the shelves back up with strong bolts in my sewing room so I was able to put some stuff on them although I'm being a bit more cautious now.
Have a good day.
Damp and dreary out this morning but the wind has dropped. It was very windy yesterday, the washing dried in no time.
Glad you got on well at the vets Ruby.
Your sewing room sounds great Snoozer.
Enjoy your day out TA.
What a strange thing to get Gers!
Hope your pup is ok Coxy.
I've made orange curd Scarlett, it was ok. I'm not a great lover of orange flavoured foods but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. Saves throwing the oranges out.
The cardigan is nearly finished, just some sewing up to do and the buttons to put on, I'll have a look to see if I have anything suitable.
Headache still hanging on and I didn't have a great sleep, maybe a nana nap later. I think I can go out today, maybe later though!
Take care. XX
Morning
So windy yesterday my garden furniture took a trip down the garden again. Seems to have calmed down today finally
Good day yesterday lots done.
The sprout coleslaw was gorgeous and went really well with chilli I know lots hate sprouts but it really is worth a go.
Tonight I have some sausage mash and beans v easy.
The handbag declutter was fairly successful I got rid of about half the mountain so now its just a small hill. Shoes next but maybe should wait till another bag comes through the door they are few and far between atm.
Calls today and a kitchen tidy so another day in paradise
Hope you have a good birthday next week Jackie. Another year younger eh x
Hugs to all the poorly dogs and cat
Have a good day all
