Visa being blocked due to new SCA (verified) rules?

Not strictly credit card related, but can't find an appropriate forum so here goes...
Hi - I've had the two online transactions I've made since Jan 29 be blocked (different merchants).
This is with my Barclays Visa Debit card.
Just been on the live chat to Barclays and apparently it's due to new SCA rules that have just come in, so the merchant will get a note with the failed transaction asking them to process using "Verified by Visa".
Anyone else had this? It's super annoying as one of the transactions is with TrainPal, which I've used for years with the same stored card details to buy all my train tickets, and suddenly blocked as of Sunday. Not sure they can easily fix as it's an "automated app" thingy and they're based abroad, but according to Barclays the merchant has to fix these issues and approve transactions with this extra level of security.

Buy your tickets elsewhere or get/use another payment method?

Why should they have to? If that's their long time preferred payment method then they should be able to use it going forward.Deleted_User said:Buy your tickets elsewhere or get/use another payment method?0 -

Because they can't currently use their long time preferred payment method.

I tried my Halifax Clarity Mastercard in the ticketing app, changing my default payment method. That failed too. Thankfully my Barclaycard worked.
BTW This will affect every UK card by 14th March. It's all nicely explained here...
https://www.barclaycard.co.uk/business/business-matters/fraud-and-security/sca-deadline
"From 18 January 2022, if you are non-compliant, you could be at risk of losing up to 10% of your card sales. This is because UK card issuers are increasingly required to decline non-compliant payments in the run-up to the deadline. That loss of card sales could rapidly increase to up to 50% by the end of February in the run-up to the SCA regulatory deadline."
For TrainPal, I've emailed them and given them a 1* Google Review explaining the issue, as they'll go out of business by 14 March if they don't fix this ;-) I've emailed the other company (monthly recurring transaction) as they'll be in the same boat.
