Vet practice refusing to issue written prescription for controlled drug for longer than one month

I need help too, cat went into heart failure so on 4 meds twice a day. Cardiologist check up is 600, won’t do more than a month as controlled drugs, they charge 35 for each prescription. He’s only 9, they’ve already had over 7K (partly insured), if he lives 5 years that’s another 2K without any actual medication! No idea what to do.0

Our dog recently collapsed and it was diagnosed as Mitral Valve disease. We have now used up our insurance limit. Our vet charges £14.25 for a prescription and will write one for two months of drugs.0 -
Can my vet refuse to give me a prescription for medication i have had in the past. The cost online is £14 (prescription needed) or £50 from the vet. How is this at all fair0

If they haven't seen your pet in some time they can probably say no.I can get repeats of prescriptions so long as i take my cats in for their yearly jabs and weigh in.0

My dog has epilepsy, and costs nearly £50 a month just for the pills, he has 3 tablets a day roughly 55p eachonline they are 14p each - with a £6 delivery + prescription £14he has a 6 monthly blood test £150+ and extra visits if he has more than 2 seizures in 24 hours that last longer than 2 minutes, a vet visit is £49 plus vat (isn't everything) this can result in an extra blood test.So I agree that a prescription for at least 3 months is not unreasonable if your animal is stable and has been for at least 3 months.Unfortunately as my practice has just been bought by a larger group they will only do one month @ time maybe I should ask if they think I am incompetent !0

I'm dreading my current vet retiring. He's a one-man practice and still has card files for all his clients instead of computer files. He's just given me a prescription for 12 months of meds and told me he must see my cat in six months time. He knows all his clients and their owners and knows who will be responsible. When one of my cats had to have an emergency operation I couldn't afford, he let me pay monthly until it was paid off - nothing official set up1
