Budgeting for vacation

I'd like to hear any tips anyone has for saving money when planning a vacation. Do you have any favourite websites or apps? Everything from where to stay and eat to budget recommendations is of interest to me. What factors do you consider while deciding where you wish to go

    we have holidays in the UK!
    Holidays are expensive in school term time.  Camping is the cheapest way to go followed by b&bs in less popular locations.

    The question is so vague it's impossible to give any kind of meaningful answer.  In the UK using Google with city or area name and 'tourist information' is a good starting point.
