Hi all
I purchased some Clarke shoes online and returned them to store for a different pair, paying an extra £6. Those shoes don't fit either (they were for my son who wasn't with me) so I need to return the latest pair but lost the receipt.
My bank statements show the extra £6 paid and I've got the online receipt for the original pair. Can I use the bank transaction (which will be shown on my phone or as a downloaded PDF) as a receipt to get a money/cash refund?

Without the return/exchange paperwork, I doubt it. All you have to show them is you purchased something for £6. The might be able to look it up on their system with the exact time/date I suppose.

My experience wasn't good though as Asda claimed they couldn't find the transaction despite giving all info and the item being the only thing I purchased but thankfully I found the receipt. Saying that, you're limited at where Clarks shoes can be purchased so it's unlikely they could have been bought elsewhere and I guess the shoes are still on sale. Hopefully staff might remember you. Maybe get a copy of the online order? That might help. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.1 -
Did you exchange them in one of Clarks shops or a different retailer?0

If the shoes were faulty you have Consumer Law protection, and in accordance with law Clarks say:If you don't have your receipt or delivery documents, you can supply us with a credit card or bank statement for proof of purchase.Clarkes will accept returns for change of mind or if you bought the wrong item but on their own terms since you don't have Consumer protection for that.
In common with many other businesses Clarks say:This is in addition to your statutory rights. Any returns must be unworn or unused and in their original condition and packaging, and you must have your receipt or delivery documents as proof of purchase. In practice it might well be up to the manager's discretion for such a minor amount, especially if you are just swapping for a bigger size. Take the lad with you this time though - they won't keep swapping for ever!0
