Does any charity make use of old doorkeys?

  • Does anyone know of any charity collecting old keys to raise money?

My daughter's school used to colllect them for the Guide Dogs for the Blind - but have stopped. I looked on the Guide Dog website but it makes no mention of collecting the keys - have a large quantity from work and was hoping they could be of some use.

    Thanks

I found this old thread but it also mentioned Guide Dogs, may be worth giving them a call however? Just in case they still take them, but don't mention it.

  • I was just wondering if anyone was still trying to get rid of old keys, as I am doing a school project and am in need of many old keys.
    Thanks

If people are still interested in a charity which can use old keys and the like, try the following: http://www.safehaven4donkeys.org/pdf/stamps-n-all.pdf

So far as I am aware RNLI will take old keys.

I have given my old keys to my Brownie unit - we use a bunch of them for a game (one girl blindfolded and someone else has to rescue the keys from under the chair. The blindfolded Brownie has to guess who has the keys). A simple game, but one that is enjoyed a lot.
  • What are they made of?? I would have thought they are mostly steel. Are they any good to a scrap metal yard?
