Oven faulty at two and a half years

Bought an expensive Bosch double oven as referring the kitchen and decided to go for a quality product. It was installed in Sep 2019, but left for abroad shortly afterwards. Other than a brief return for three weeks in Feb 2020 did not return until end Dec 2020. So very little use up to then, house was heater and ventilated whilst away but no one in the house other than to check. Having been home since Jan 2020 but as only two of us in the house the bottom oven does not get a lot of use. Other day bang when turning the bottom oven on main switch and relevant trip went. Reset tried again bang. Rang Bosch as expected quality oven to last longer. At the time of ordering we could of had a lower spec other make with a 5 year guarantee but opted for the Bosch one. Admitted it only came with a two year guarantee but was not worried about extending the cover as this was supposed to be a quality product. Wrote to Bosch they dont want to know and quoted
£99 + vat plus parts to fix it. I feel that you should get longer use of an quality oven without this happening.

If it can be proved the fault was there at purchase then claim your consumer rights and get the retailer to pay for a repair.0

You need to speak to the retailer as your rights are with them rather than the manufacturer however the law allows them to insist you prove the fault/unreasonable life rather than them disprove it after 6 months.
Tripping switches is often the element going which is often cheap and easy to replace yourself.1 -
As above, best to check whether the problem is easily fixable first. Last oven element I had to replace cost £7.80 and was a DIY job.0
