NatNat77 said:Thanks all, and so sorry about the photos. I'm trying not to give away where I live on a public forum! The pictures are clearer on street view without zooming in, if any of you would be willing to have a look I could message the link. Thanks again!
I was going to say, if you want to keep the location secret, and I understand that, walk up to the tree and take close up photos of the leaves. That's a bit difficult this time of year!

Indeed, the first photo was only taken yesterday. Not a leaf in sight 😂😭0

Any dried underneath that you can get at?
And you didn't give the type of soil. Take a small amount and squeeze it. Sand will fall, clay will stick in a tight lump, in between will fall in bits or break up in your hand.
It's me just the spread of roots but if one is cutt/falls down the ground will slowly shrink possibly.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Not a leaf in sight 😂😭A close up of the bark on the trunk is almost as useful to people who know their tree species.I'm also pretty sure you've got more than one species to identify, and if the land was formerly the property of someone of status there's a greater probability of one or more of them being a less-common species (some of which can be mistaken for other more common ones)1

I've just walked past the sycamore at the bottom of my drive and the trunk does look like the one on the right.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I can't get physically close to those trees but I have managed to take some closer up photos of the trunks through a hole in our fence 😂 I'm not sure if they'll help at all, it's such a shame there are no leaves at the moment!
Very grateful for all the help so far.

Sorry for the double pic!

Tree on the right:I'm no expert, but that bark, the leaf shape, and the overall shape makes me think the one on the right could be a Norway Maple - easily confused with Sycamore as they are quite similar. The way the trees of many different species have been planted in some kind of planned arrangment suggests this is a formal arboretum.... hence some less common species may be present. You (/your structural engineer) really need some expert advice to avoid any unpleasant surprises later on.2 -
Thank you all. I have flagged the trees to the SEs I'm trying to obtain quotes from. Having googled the trunks of the names you've all kindly suggested the one on the right looks like it could be many of them 😂
I'll update this thread if I ever find out!
