20 Ryanair tips – official MSE guide discussion

Hello there,

The original Ryanair tips thread is now closed, so I've created a new one here, which is specifically to discuss the following guide:

20 Ryanair tips

What do you think of the guide? Has it helped you save money? Do you have any other tips we could add to it?

Thanks for your help,

MSE Kelvin :)

  • 1 - you dont have to go to the different countries pages to check the one-way thing out, I just did a dummy one way search for Stockholm to London on the GB site and it shows you the cost in krona.

7 - the Stockholm example is a poor one, given most of Ryanairs flights to Stockholm are to Arlanda. In fact I think the only route Ryanair run to the other Stockholm airport is a twice weekly one from Stansted, an airport where they run a daily flight to Arlanda.

18 - I cant say I have been bombared with announcements. Surely its similar for all airlines?

Considered points, however the ARN base (and ARN as a destination) has only been in place since October, and has come almost completely at the cost of NYO. Wait a few years until the new airline/route subsidies run out and Ryanair will likely come crawling back to NYO as if nothing has happened. I believe the other airport now is Skavsta, which is far from anything.

In relation to part 18, (and I have to make clear that I haven't been on a Ryanair flight since before the pandemic), I have never had an airline sell scratchcards before, even on a 5 hour flight with an airline cheaper than Ryanair on average, I've only had once food service and one duty free service. I haven't flown a single flight as a passenger long either since pre-pandemic (longest has been 3-ish hours), but again haven't noticed anything more than food/drink and duty free, with Easyjet, Wizz, LOT, Belavia (pre-sanctions) etc in this time. If there are more than 2 announcements/services on a short haul flight (and I count Ryanair as a minimum of 3 unless it's changed in the last few years), there are too many IMO.

  • Pretty sure I have had Thomas Cook try and sell me scratchcards in the past, and maybe even Jet2
