    Well if it's going through as a chargeback, you should have no problem. The fact they have no funds makes no difference to you getting the money back. It comes from their merchant back, who will have to take the hit.
    Hi @born_again -  slightly off topic but a technical question that might affect the OP here.

    As the merchant is in liquidation, is that likely to have any influence on the outcome of a chargeback?  I know from previous discussions on s75 and chargeback that the merchant can challenge a chargeback.  Isn't it even more likely that a liquidator would challenge it as it would potentially interfere in his legal duties as liquidator?  (ie whoever shares in whatever is left).

    Or does the fact that the merchant is in liquidation mean that the "hit" stays with the merchant's bank?  And if so, wouldn't the bank challenge it?

    No the fact they are no longer trading has no affect on the success. In Fact it is more likely to succeed as there is no one to challenge it 👍

    These funds have nothing to do with becoming a creditor and hoping for a few pence in the pound.
    As I said their merchant bank that funds chargeback credits & they can not reject them, unless someone makes a big mistake and they find a technical rejection (never seen that). Even if it did your bank would have to cover the mistake. How merchant bank recover it, I'm not sure. 

    As a aide when big co's go under. So the likes of Thomas Cook etc. The banks & card providers get together and work out the best way to deal with the massive number of chargebacks.
    Which is why from a workers perspective it is a nightmare as you start off with the normal rules. Only to be told that they have changed, then maybe changed again later on..
    So sometimes when a big co goes under it can be better to wait a week before starting a claim. As the people who called straight away have the hoops to jump through provide paperwork etc. But a week later it's all dealt with on a call. 🤷‍♀️
