Aqua card application successful but wrong address...

So i successfully applied for an aqua card, so now just waiting for things to arrive in the post(the card etc).

Here's the problem - i went thru it via a deal thing on clearscore, so a combination of that and allowing my computer to do the autofill things with all the different text boxes means it's all going to go to my old address!

I've got a couple of options, but not sure on my success rate:

1) contact aqua direct and explain and hope they will change my address(not sure how this'll go as they say you can only change details once you've activated your card)
2)get in touch with my old landlord, explain and say something is being sent and ask if he could pass it on to me once it arrives
3)I'm on first name terms with the postie for that area and he also happens to drop post into my work which is only 1 street over from where i used to live and ask nicely if he gets the chance to check can he leave it in work where i can pick it up(not sure how this'll go seeing as i get a feeling this could encroach into GDPR territory)
4)See if it's not too late to register for the postal redirection thingy and hope this post I'm waiting for doesn't slip thru the net...

I will change my address as soon as i get my hands on the card and get it activated, i just can't believe i let this happen in the first place!

Thank you in advance for any and all help!

  • Speak to Aqua, if they accepted you based on living at the old address they might want to check our the application again

I would add the mail redirection service as well

How long ago did you move from the previous address?

I would set up the mail redirection.

Also, speak with the former LL if you are on good terms with them, though the LL will, in turn, be reliant upon the goodwill of the current tenants.

Any request to the postal worker to redirect things informally seems like a recipe that will go wrong - the postal service are duty bound to deliver mail to the address that it has been sent to (not the individual).

    Just over a week ago.

Luckily former landlord is selling to a new landlord but he said that's not for a few more weeks yet so old property is currently unoccupied.

Yeah I guessed as much. Only reason I thought of it was because when we had a new hub sent to us by bt, I saw him a few days prior and said I may be working the day it comes and sure enough when he came to deliver mail into work he also gave me my bt equipment instead of attempting to deliver it to home.

There is a small chance that they may in the short term decline your application with the new address as you'll have no history there yet, you won't show as existing there just now. It'll take a while to get yourself on the electoral roll (which no doubt you're doing right?) and for all your other accounts to migrate to the new address once you've told your banks/utilities. But you should definitely call them and explain that it was auto-filled on your address from last week as you've just moved - and see what they say when they re-run the numbers.

Yes, I changed everything to do with local council/authorities first, before we even moved(electoral roll, council tax etc)

Well I chanced it and got in touch with my ex landlord, and there were a few letters which he hand delivered when I gave him my new address. He then said he'll redirect any more that get delivered to my old address.

A couple of the letters were the things from aqua I was waiting for. Got in touch with them straight away, told them about my mishap, they let me change my address and activate my card. All good 👍
