You make some valid points. I'm barely consuming 3kWh per day during the summer. That would mean a 15p increase in my daily tariff (partially offset by the lower standing charge) BUT this will offer protection against a much higher tariff of 41+p/kWh from October.

This assumes Octopus does not force us onto Agile Import v2 for atleast year (Will they automatically migrate us in a year?). If so, V1 will prove beneficial with an effective .35p/kWh cap. Worst case, I can always switch back to flexible. Thanks very much for sharing!

Don't forget the lower standing charge for Agile

My understanding is that the cap and standing charge are fixed for the duration of the contract (one year). Similar to Octopus Go.

However, I am not sure how set in stone it is.

I didn't read anything to say I'd signed up to a 1 year deal? Just that I could change anytime I wanted with 30 days notice.

They're fixed but it's not in the terms so they can break the fix if they wish, same with tracker rates, there is a cap, but there's nothing to say they can't increase it during the term. 

There is no risk in moving to Agile, if in August we see published rates are considerably lower than first thought we simply move back to an SVT.

Am I correct that you can have outgoing agile and be on a fixed/variable or standard tariff? You don't need to be on agile incoming to get it?
