How long do searches take?

Hi,

I was wondering how long searches are currently taking to come back? If it helps, the property is in Luton.

Have you asked your conveyancer? They'll be best placed to answer.
  • I paid for my search pack on the 13th January, presumably they applied for them within a couple of days. I was told they are due back on the 15th February. I'm in North East England though, it's different depending on where in the country you are. Some councils will be quicker, others slower.

My question to them was when are we likely to complete as I'd want it to be asap. They responded saying we should be okay to complete in Feb but can only confirm once he is "in receipt of all replies".

So I'm wondering if it's the searches that are holding it up (should have been applied for on 20th Jan)
  • Depends where you are. Mine took 10 days.

Enquiries themselves depend on the result of the searches. 6 weeks to complete is an optimistic time frame I'd suggest.
