Budget up to £100. Looking for safe, effective and easy to use good quality floor steamer, mainly for bathroom. Not continuous steam and with control.

Im on my third floor steamer. I bought one then replaced it for a better model but still thought it was a waste of time.
My husband, thinking he would 'help' then bought me a third and I didnt have the heart to say 'Thanks but no thanks' so I used it a couple of times then its at the back of the cupboard under the stairs. (If you live round the corner you can have it!)
My bathroom floor tiles are white and gets done every day and its so much easier just to get a cloth or use disposable wipes. The steamer cloths seem to leave marks everywhere and even though my bathroom is not large and its done daily it takes me longer with a steamer.
Perhaps Im just rubbish with them but I would never ever recommend getting one.1 -
We used to have one and ended up binning it too. It was no better than using a cloth or floor wipe etc1

We have a Vax one like this. We do have a lot of tiled floors in the house and it does a great job. The extra tools are a bit of a waste of time, only use it for mopping the floor. You can get them a lot cheaper than buying direct from vax, or find a discount offer with vax. I don't bother with the optional detergent, just use it as a plain steam mop.One word of warning - don't buy the 3rd party mop heads when you need a new one. They don't stick to the mop anything like genuine Vax ones do! The mops don't last forever, but should be good for 3+ years if used weekly. FIrst one stopped squirting steam out after a few years (could be because we have very hard water), but Vax replaced it with a newer model FOC. That was almost 3 years ago and it's still going fine.

Thanks all. Very useful to read differing perspectives.0

The only use I found for mine was killing carpet moths!
If you have pets and carpets, they are a quick way to deodourise the carpet in between full cleans.1 -
I have a vax and love it for my big tiled floors0

I did have one but gave it away. A quick wipe round with a wet cloth does for me. . . but I don't have great expanses of hard floor. If I did I probably would try a steam cleaner again. Or hire a human cleaner who would also do ironing. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I guess I'm in the minority, I love mine! It's the best way I've found to get the hardened bits of food off of the kitchen floor (thanks, kids). I had a special buy from Aldi or Lidl (can't remember which) that lasted about 5 years, then I got a no-name one off of Amazon which has been going fine for 3 years so far. Both were sub £50.0

Thanks for the posts, appreciated. As I often say a variety of opinions is most helpful for making an informed decision.0
