If you have had no symptoms, then Day 0 is the day of the PCR test (Sunday in your case) and you have to do 10 full days.

You can leave Self Isolation before then if you can give two negative LFTs, 24 hours apart, after you have done 5 full days.

So you can take the first test on Day 5 (Friday) and the second on Saturday (Day 6) and if both negative then you can end immediately.

Could be worse - in New Zealand it's an eye watering 14 days with no early release, and a further 10 days for household contacts. Nearly a month!

Thanks , what confusing is the section where it says .

If you test positive, your self-isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day you had the test, if you did not have symptoms) and the next 10 full days."

As I had mild symptoms on the Saturday I stayed in and booked the PCR for Sunday ( drive through ) , so would not Saturday be day 0 rather than the Sunday ?

It would, but in your first post you said that you didn't have symptoms. If you did, then yes - Saturday would be Day 0 and then Day 5 would be Thursday (tomorrow) and Day 6 Friday.

  • My son is isolated in his bedroom which means I am also in isolation trying not to catch it from him :(
