Sorry if this is a bit sad, but what are the best prices people are getting for this in Belfast?

Before Covid I was getting 12 litres for £6 (50p/l) in Iceland.  At the start of Covid, all multi buys were cancelled, so I moved to buying Creamfields Uht Semi Skimmed Milk from Tesco at 55p/l or under 50p/l with clubcard plus.

Now it seems that Tesco have discontinued the semi-skimmed one!  The cheapest options are Iceland at 12 for £8.50 (nearly 50% increase in 2 years) or Tesco 6 for £4.50, £4.05 with clubcard plus (still an increase of over 33%).

Sorry if this seems trivial.

  • It looks like Asda sell skimmed uht milk for 50p a litre but I can’t see anywhere doing semi skimmed for that price.

Unfortunately, the price of things generally seems to be rocketing. It’s no longer a case of prices going up in multiples of 10p, it’s now multiples of £’s, even things that didn’t cost many £’s to begin with. 50% price increases don’t seem to be uncommon…

Global Dairy Trade's price index is up 44% since February 2020 and it only seems to be going one direction. You might want to stock up https://www.globaldairytrade.info/en/product-results/

not surprised milk products have been sold near the cost of production for years.

    That's all going to change

Seems that sainsbury's may have dairy pride for 50p - not been to check yet.

Bought some own brand in Tesco for emergency @ £4.50 for 6!  😭

Thanks for that.  I wonder what stock is like - the big ones at connswater & Holywood may be best... hmm.

My mum likes the bread from there too (I only go once in a while to stock up on kitchen rolls & cereal - since Covid shopping is a chore - before I would happily have hit 4 or 5 shops in an evening/Saturday afternoon).

Another tip I got recently is that their soft cheese is perfect for making cheesecake - half the price of the main brand when on offer in Tesco!  Also a fraction bigger too!

Thanks again, even if the notification Misslayed comment on.... confused me no end - thought the MSE DB had lost my last comment! 😂
