AGM motion vote and count

I want to put forward a motion in our AGM, but in a way that doesn't stimulate much negativity.
I am thinking of putting it like "does anyone object X?".
Usually in our AGM we have a presence of about 60% of the shareholders. Should we consider the following 40% that didn't attend as non-negative i.e positive votes, given that the AGM agenda has been communicated prior to the AGM, and hence if anyone wanted to cast their vote on a subject, could do so?
