Hi everyone,
Further to my last post we have today received an email from DCBL saying that their client would like to offer us the chance to settle before court with a discount of approximately £100 from the £243 they are claiming we owe. I have spoken to the court this morning and the case has been passed to the district judge for listing. Is this usually what they do? Should we respond or ignore?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.0 -
You were advised twice on 31 January to get the University to cancel this as you were on their business but you seem to have ignored this, they could have stopped this in its tracks there and then!

Hi Fisherjim,
We have approached the company we subcontract from at the university who is our first port of call. The complication lies in that because the PCN was sent to the wrong address originally it was allowed to escalate to the court over a long period of time and now has to be dealt with that way! This company has issued us PCNs in error in the past and they have always been swiftly dealt with and cancelled. This one slipped past because we had no idea. Now its got to a stage where we will need to oppose it in the court! The “without prejudice save as to costs” email was sent to our email.

Likely to be followed by a Notice of Discontinuance.
Can you show us that letter please? I want evidence that PPCs are quite happy to settle for the PCN plus court fees. I think these letters will be useful at the Public Consultation stage to expose that you don't need to add £70 to recover a parking charge.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

We received a letter from the solicitors of First Parking to say they would be discontinuing the court action and also a letter from the court to confirm this. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
