Returning passport when making online application for passport renewal

Do you just return the passport in an envelope with no covering letter?
Or do you need to include the reference number given when you applied?

  • I included the reference number but not sure if you had to or not

I just put the passport in an envelope; the reference number was included as part of the address. Seemed to work as the passport was received and the new one processed very quickly.

You send it in a strong envelope and make sure you put the reference number on the envelope.  Your old Passport will be returned to you separately once the application has been passed
