From previous posts here it seems that some advisers will negotiate fixed fees rather than being % based and that it should be capped. Any IFA should be truly independent, why do you think otherwise from an initial conversation?Zadumbreion said:Well finding an IFA is turning out to be a bit of a challenge at the moment. At least those who don't insist on ad valorem payment and are truly independent.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Some of the IFAs I have spoken to are part of larger groups which strongly favour their own fund managers etc, or are somehow part of a larger group that may influence the services they offer.jimjames said:

Maybe that's not an issue but so far I haven't found any that will work on a transactional basis (perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology but by that I mean paid for their time to help draw up an initial plan and strategy, and then perhaps to continue to work on an as and when needed basis rather than earning a percentage of AUM for potentially doing very little over the next decade).
If there's anyone on this forum who is experienced, independent, ideally qualified to Chartered Financial Planner level (unless you all reckon that means nothing) who might be interested in working with me on a transactional basis please feel free to message me 😁
I can promise that what happens outside the forum stays outside the forum 🙂0
