I'm buying this house and viewed it again and noticed this big crack on the stairs/landing. There's 2 of them that are very long/high. I'm now thinking I need to upgrade my home buyers survey to a structural one. Agreed? I hope this isn't anything too serious, any thoughts?

It doesn't look too serious to me but if you're buying a house then maybe a structural survey will put your mind at ease.4

Settling plaster cracks most likely.
we have a few. No dramas.8 -
anything showing outside ? (in your binoculars)
I am not a cat (But my friend is)1 -
What's on the wall? It looks like layer after layer of thick "crack filling" type paint? Whatever it would all want stripping off, perhaps re plastering even to get a decent surface to paint. So you would be planning to do work on that wall already wouldn't you?And what age of property, is this an external corner etc.1

Doesn't look that bad tbh, and the paint / plaster looks old so it's not like anyone has tried to hide anything recently. Look at the other side of the wall (external brick?) to see if the crack goes all the way though.1

The pattern of the crack suggests a lime plaster (if it were plasterboard, the crack would be straight). So an older property ?Old building move, and plaster cracks and sometimes "blows" - Is there a hollow sound if you tap the wall with a finger/knuckle ?As long as there are no corresponding (large) cracks visible externally, I wouldn't be too worried. The textured finish and the thought of redecorating on the other hand.....Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.3 -
This makes me think of the old Crocodile Dundee quip - 'that;s not a crack ... THIS is a crack'

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like artex (we've obtained some samples for a company to test for asbestos). Would artex crack like this though, I thought it was pretty hardy stuff?
It's not an external wall but there is one very similar on the external wall adjacent to it0 -
These are the ones on the wall next to it which is an external wall. This one looks like it's had some patch work done on it as the texture looks different around it?
